I’m Daniel Hemhauser and am beyond excited to start this journey with you. Whether you’re managing your first project, leading enterprise-level initiatives, or simply passionate about leadership and operational excellence, this newsletter supports you every step of the way.
About Me: A Lifelong Passion for Project Management
Let me tell you a bit about myself. I’ve spent nearly two decades managing IT projects and programs, leading high-impact initiatives across industries. My career has been defined by a relentless drive to improve processes, optimize costs, and deliver results that matter. From leading Agile transformations to implementing Lean Six Sigma strategies, I’ve had the privilege of seeing what works—and doesn’t—when managing complex projects.
One of my proudest accomplishments was saving my company $106 million and avoiding an additional $78 million in costs by leveraging innovative methodologies. But these numbers are just part of the story. I’ve learned that project management is more than frameworks and deliverables—it's about people, relationships, and finding creative ways to solve problems.
Why I Started The PM Playbook
If there’s one thing I’ve realized over the years, project managers often feel like they’re navigating an ever-changing landscape with limited guidance. Tools and methodologies evolve, but the challenges—stakeholder alignment, team morale, scope creep—remain constant.
I created The PM Playbook as the resource I wish I had earlier in my career. I aim to provide actionable insights, practical advice, and real-world examples to help you overcome challenges and achieve your goals. Whether you’re struggling with communication, decision-making, or leadership, this newsletter supports you every step of the way.

What I’ve Learned (and Want to Share)
Reflecting on my journey, I’ve come to understand a few universal truths about project management:
People Over Processes
No matter how sophisticated your tools or frameworks are, people drive projects. Building trust, fostering collaboration, and investing in your team’s growth are essential for success.
Adaptability is Key
Agility isn’t just a methodology—it’s a mindset. Projects rarely go exactly as planned, and the ability to adapt is what separates good project managers from great ones.
Communication is Everything
Stakeholders need to be informed, engaged, and aligned. Clear, transparent communication is the foundation of any successful project.
Never Stop Learning
The world of project management is constantly evolving. Staying curious, earning certifications, and learning from peers have been invaluable in my career.
My Vision for The PM Playbook
I want this newsletter to be more than just a collection of tips and tricks. I envision it as a community where project managers can learn from each other, share their experiences, and grow together.
